12,368real estate fraud complaints to the FBI in 2025
In 2025 alone, the FBI's IC3 logged 12,368 real estate fraud complaints and over $275 million in reported losses.
That's up from about $173 million the year before. The FBI treats wire fraud at a real estate closing as its own named sub-category of business email compromise.
