46 acresranch sold to a couple for only the amount owed on it, about half its assessed value

A Boise couple, one holding power of attorney over a retired schoolteacher, bought her 46-acre ranch for only the amount owed on it, about half its assessed value; he got 41 months in prison.

The ranch was never listed on the open market, so no outside buyer or appraiser could notice the mismatch. His wife received three years of probation for obstruction after a laptop holding relevant records was reset on a request from jail.
