Reporting a scam in Indonesia

First hour, in order

  1. Call your bank. Contact your bank or e-wallet provider at once and ask it to block the transaction, then file the IASC report and a police report.
  2. Stop paying. No fee, tax or "release payment" ever unlocks money that does not exist.
  3. Screenshot everything before you delete an app, block a number or close an account.
  4. Then report using the routes below. Reporting is slower than the bank call, and less urgent, but it is what produces enforcement.

Indonesia’s main channel for money-transfer scams is the Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre (IASC), a portal led by the financial regulator OJK. You file a detailed report online, and it is passed to the banks and e-wallets involved so they can try to block the receiving accounts. The call center is 157. The IASC page lists a passport or KITAS as acceptable ID alongside the Indonesian KTP, so a foreign resident can use it, but the site is in Indonesian.

IASC says plainly that it is only one of two steps. It is for the financial side (blocking accounts), and it does not guarantee you will get money back. You must also file a police report (Laporan Polisi) at the nearest police station for the legal side. We could not read the national police cybercrime portal for this review, so we have not listed a police channel beyond that instruction. Gather transfer receipts, the scammer’s account details and your chat screenshots before you start, and file one report per receiving account.
