Reporting a scam in Mexico

First hour, in order

  1. Call your bank. Call your bank, then file with CONDUSEF, which mediates disputes with financial institutions.
  2. Stop paying. No fee, tax or "release payment" ever unlocks money that does not exist.
  3. Screenshot everything before you delete an app, block a number or close an account.
  4. Then report using the routes below. Reporting is slower than the bank call, and less urgent — but it is what produces enforcement.

CONDUSEF is the body that handles disputes with banks and financial institutions in Mexico, and it is the right route when a bank or card is involved. Cybercrime goes to the Guardia Nacional’s cyber police.
