Reporting a scam in New Zealand

First hour, in order

  1. Call your bank. Contact your bank straight away using the number on your card.
  2. Stop paying. No fee, tax or "release payment" ever unlocks money that does not exist.
  3. Screenshot everything before you delete an app, block a number or close an account.
  4. Then report using the routes below. Reporting is slower than the bank call, and less urgent — but it is what produces enforcement.

CERT NZ takes reports of online incidents and passes them to the right agency. If money has gone, tell your bank first and report to police on 105 as well.
