Minnesota's attorney general alleges a contract-for-deed company bought a home for $399,900 and resold it, the same day, for $931,950 to a buyer locked into seller financing instead of a mortgage.
The September 2026 lawsuit against C4D, LLC and co-owners Travis Benoit and Steven Legatt is ongoing; prosecutors allege contracts marketed as interest-free to Somali Muslim buyers failed at more than 20 times the national foreclosure rate. None of this has been proven in court.
