A fake psychic's extortion escalated until a Maryland man, convinced a woman he loved was in danger, embezzled more than $4 million from his own employer to pay it.
A federal judge sentenced the operator, Gina Rita Russell, to 125 months in prison in 2024. Four of her coconspirators, including her common-law husband, were sentenced separately.
