Fact #8 NumbersMoney

$194,809reached cancer patients out of more than $18 million raised, the FTC alleges

The FTC and ten states allege a cancer charity collected more than $18 million from donors between 2017 and 2022 and spent $194,809 on support for patients, about one cent in every dollar.

The complaint also alleges its operator took $775,139 in salary, nearly four times what the fund gave to patients, and that about 85% of donations went to for-profit fundraisers. The charity was real; the allegation is that little reached patients.
