$350 millionin ghost student fraud investigated over five years, an official says
An Education Department inspector general official told ABC News that the government has investigated more than $350 million in ghost student fraud over five years, and that it is only what has been adjudicated.
The official said the office had more than 200 investigations open and that some schemes are suspected of racking up more than a billion dollars.
