119 millionconsumer leads MediaAlpha sold to telemarketing partners in 2024 alone, per the FTC

The FTC alleged MediaAlpha used sites like ObamacarePlans.com to imply a government link and sold approximately 119 million consumer leads in 2024 alone; it and Assurance IQ settled for $145 million.

Assurance IQ, the telemarketer, allegedly misrepresented short-term plans as covering preexisting conditions. The companies agreed to pay $100 million and $45 million through proposed stipulated orders, not after a trial.
